Killeen ISD board to discuss Career Center expansion
Board also to receive an update on potential bond for May 5 ballot

An expansion to the Killeen Independent School District Career Center, 1320 Stagecoach Road, is on the agenda for discussion at the KISD board of trustees workshop Tuesday.
The Career Center expansion is listed on the district’s Strategic Facility Plan with an opening date of fall 2020. The cost is listed as “TBD” — to be determined.
Currently available district funds would cover the expansion’s cost, according to John Craft, KISD superintendent.
The board will also receive an update about the potential bond issue, which is being planned for the May 5 ballot. The bond steering committee met three times in November, and most recently ranked the projects being considered in order of importance. The top priority projects total nearly $500 million.
Those projects include improving security and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act at existing KISD schools, building a new high school, and consolidation plans for East Ward and West Ward elementary schools, and Pershing Park, Sugar Loaf and Bellaire elementary schools.
Other items on the board’s workshop agenda include selection of a waterproofing consultant, and discussion of flooring and painting lifecycle replacement pricing for fiscal year 2018.
The board workshop will begin at 6 p.m. at the KISD administrative office, 200 N. W.S. Young Drive.
