 Extra Killeen police patrols at area shopping areas during the holiday season will double as an opportunity to meet and chat up officers, according to a Killeen Police Department news release sent Thursday.
 From Friday through Christmas Eve, additional officers will be posted at major shopping areas, and shoppers can look for the department’s mobile command center. Locations will be posted each week.

“This will be an opportunity for you and your family to meet your community police officers, ask questions or obtain assistance,” said Cdr. Alex Gearhart, department spokesman.
