Soldiers, family join ‘Long Road Home’ cast for miniseries premiere

The miniseries filmed at Fort Hood earlier this year follows a platoon of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, which was ambushed in Sadr City, a suburb of Baghdad beginning on April 4, 2004, in a battle that would later become known as “Black Sunday.”
During the ensuing six-hour evening battle, eight soldiers were killed and more than 60 were wounded.
Cast members who attended the screening included: Noel Fisher, Sarah Wayne Callies, EJ Bonilla, Jon Beavers, Jorge Diaz, Ian Quinlan and Darius Homayoun, along with Executive Producer Mike Medavoy; author and ABC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz; and executive producer and screenwriter Mikko Alanne.
“The Long Road Home” miniseries premieres on the Nat Geo channel at 8 p.m. Nov. 7.
