A new 120-bed, long-term care and therapy facility in Killeen is hoping to open its doors in three weeks, according to Dave Johnson, the facility’s administrator.
Killeen Nursing & Rehabilitation, scheduled to open at 5000 Thayer Drive, is in the final stages of construction and awaiting final approval from the fire marshal, Johnson said.
Johnson said Aug. 18 the facility will provide service to both elderly residents and younger patients. “It will offer skilled nursing and rehabilitation, and physical, occupational and speech therapy,” he said. “We’ll also do long-term nursing care services and short term. A younger person wouldn’t necessarily feel uncomfortable being in the building.”
The facility will eventually employ about 120 employees with Fort Worth-based Trinity Healthcare — the facility’s parent company — hiring locally.
Johnson said most of the interviewing has been completed, but the facility is still taking applications for positions on staff.
