HARKER HEIGHTS — Emergency Service Partners of Austin will provide medical management and staffing for Seton Medical Center Harker Heights’ emergency department, the company announced Tuesday.

The emergency physicians partnership plans to hire seven doctors to staff the department, which features 17 emergency beds, when the hospital opens June 18. The contract, finalized last month, lasts a year and includes renewal options.

“This is wonderful,” said Sanna Root, director of the emergency department. “These doctors are all board-certified emergency physicians and will provide excellent care. They have the same values as the hospital.”

Those values are facilitating a calm environment, respecting the patient and providing quality care, said Root.

Emergency Service Partners was formed in 1988 to manage and staff the emergency department at Seton’s original facility in Austin. The company now serves more than 20 emergency departments across Texas, including 10 in the Seton network.

“We’ve been a proud partner with Seton for nearly 25 years,” said Cheryl Conner, CEO of Emergency Service Partners. “We are thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with Seton at this brand new facility and we’re looking forward to our first partnership with the LHP Hospital Group as well.”

The new facility in Harker Heights is a joint venture between the Austin-based Seton Healthcare Family and Plano-based LHP Hospital Group.
