The Killeen Independent School District opened its doors to its summer enrollment center Monday for students who are new to the district.
According to information from the district, all new students can register at the center until Aug. 4.
“During this time this is the only place new students can register,” said Leslie Gilmore, KISD’s public information officer. After Aug. 4, students will go to their respective campuses to register for the upcoming school year.
The enrollment center, located at Manor Middle School, 1700 W.S. Young Drive in Killeen, is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every weekday through Aug. 4.
The following documents are required when registering new students:
Immunization records
Current proof of residency within KISD (utility bill or lease contract)
Birth certificate (certified copy required for children under 11 years of age)
Student’s Social Security card
Report card/records from previous school
Driver’s license of person enrolling the student
Pre-K eligibility:
Military Dependent qualification criteria , which requires Military ID, DEERS form or other reliable documentation is required to show that student is a dependent of a current military member or prior military member who was injured, killed or MIA while on active duty. Simply being a retired military member does NOT meet this Pre-K qualification criteria.
Income qualification criteria, which requires proof of income (from prior month) for all household members. Note: Additional documentation required for other custodial arrangements.
The purpose of the enrollment center is to enroll new students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade, to update immunization records, address, change registration information, conduct ELL/bilingual screening, special education placement, provide campus information and school supply lists,
