As the evening air cools down, the summer night is expected to heat up with entertainment at the Killeen Amphitheater.

The Parks and Recreation Department launches its 2011 Hot Summer Nights concert series and Movies in the Park film series at 8 p.m. Friday.

The first show features a vintage rock concert by RetroActive.

According to a release from the city, attendees should bring blankets or lawn chairs.

Residents can bring their own food and drinks and concessions also are available for purchase. Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not permitted at the amphitheater.

The concerts and movies start at 8 p.m. The amphitheater is next to the Killeen Community Center, 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd.

Admission is free.
